  The British Accreditation Council
    The BAC is an independent body which was established in 1984 'to improve and enhance the standards of independent further and higher educational institutions in the United Kingdom by the establishment of a system of accreditation'.
  Council for Independent Further Education
    CIFE is a professional association of 24 independent sixth-form and tutorial colleges.
  National Association for Gifted Children
    NAGC offers direct support to the Gifted. For the 3-10 year old age group the site has an on-line area for children and parents together to explore ideas, resources and links. 11-18 age group is catered for through the 'Youth Agency' and the 'Youth Cafe'.

  Joint Educational Trust
    Help for children between the ages of 7 and 13 who are "at risk". Usually boarding need, but will consider day cases where there is a clear reason. There must be an element of social deprivation - neither learning difficulties nor financial incapacity alone is enough.

  ISEB - Independent Schools Examination Board
    The Independent Schools Examinations Board offers examinations for pupils transferring from junior to independent senior school at the ages of 11+ and 13+. The main examination is Common Entrance, established in 1904.
  Headmasters' & Headmistresses Conference

Founded in 1869, the Headmasters' Conference, with a membership drawn largely from the heads of independent schools, provides "an opportunity to meet together in geographical Divisions and at an Annual Conference to discuss matters of common interest". The HMC represents the Heads of over 240 leading boys and co-educational schools and has 70 or so international members.

    NAGM aims to improve the contribution made by school and college Governors to the quality of education. It represents governors in England and Wales and supports them in their voluntary public work by providing information, advice and training.
