Windermere St Anne's School is unique in the educational experience it offers to its students. The Campus, in the heart of the Lake District, is set in 80 acres of wooded parkland, and has extensive modern facilities for pursuing a full academic syllabus
The School accepts boys and girls from 2 – 18 years as day pupils and boarders from 8 years. It is chosen by parents from a wide range of occupations who are looking for a high quality education and a commitment to development of each child as an individual.
Exceptional pastoral support and a broad activity programme enhance the high academic standards achieved by the pupils. The School offers a challenging outdoor activity programme, based at its own water sports centre on Lake Windermere.
Everyone learns to sail, while many also opt for other activities such as windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, mountaineering, hill climbing and scrambling.
The School has a strong reputation for the individual development of pupils based on academic, cultural and sporting achievement.
The School has a distinctive international culture, accepting pupils from all over the world as well as from across the British Isles. This cosmopolitan atmosphere owes itself partly to the excellent road, rail and air links to the area, but also to the School’s membership of the Round Square Conference. This is a network of schools across the globe committed to internationalism and between which students participate in an exchange programme.
The School has first class boarding facilities for boys and girls, with Langdale House an award winning boarding house opened in 2001. The house, overlooking Lake Windermere and the central Lake District fells, provides an inspirational setting in which pupils can enjoy their boarding experience.
The Sixth Form Centre at Windermere St Anne’s offers a university style environment for living and learning. The rich literary and cultural heritage of the Lake District together with the great outdoors provide an inspirational setting for study, self-discovery and enjoyment.
The ethos of Sixth Form life for students is reflected in their study facilities, accommodation and responsibilities. All students have study bedrooms or study facilities in Westmorland House, a purpose built sixth form complex. Students live in flats for five people with single and double study bedrooms, sitting room and bathroom.
The time spent in the Sixth Form is designed to bridge the gap between school and university. They are expected to develop skills of time management and sensible study habits as well as make their individual contribution to the life if the School.
In the words of one of its students: “Windermere St Anne’s is a special because the minute you walk through the door you know that it is different – the family atmosphere surrounds you”.
